The world's largest software
company, Google, has reportedly hacked hackers to the tune of $ 6.5 million
(around Rs 46.5 crore) in 2019 to protect the Internet. In the company's
Vulnerability Reward Program (VRP), hackers are rewarded with Google products
for detecting security flaws and bugs. These products include Google Chrome to
Android, and Google aims to make its products safe for users.
Google said in an official
blog, "Since 2020 we have increased our VRPs for an additional Google
product area, which includes misuse of Chrome, Android and products. We've also
covered third-party apps on the Google Play Store. This will help app
developers know about any inaccuracies in an app and fix bugs. Since then,
we've given hackers 21 million dollars as a reward. "
The number of rewards being
raised Google said that the highest amount of $ 5 million (about Rs 3.56 crore)
ever received from researchers has been donated to the charity. Regarding the
rewards, Google said that the maximum baseline for the reward has been
increased from $ 5000 to $ 15,000 for the mount Chrome. On the other hand, the
Maximum Reward Amount for High-Quality Reports has been increased from $ 15,000
to $ 30,000. Google also wrote in the blog, "Additional bonuses for bugs
received from Fajar in the Chrome Fajar program have also been doubled to $
1000."
