A 21-day lockdown is
underway in the country following a Corona virus infection. Meanwhile, the
Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked all telecom companies to
increase the validity of their prepaid research. TRI has told Reliance Jio,
Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) that it
should increase the validity of its prepaid pack, so that the prepaid users get
voice and data services without any hassle during lockdown. Our Associated
Economic Times saw a letter written to telecom companies on March 29. TRAI has
asked telecom companies to take all necessary steps. The letter also calls for
increasing the validity period of BHADA prepaid subscribers so that they can
avail services without any interruption between lockdowns.
TRAI, an organization
that monitors telecom companies, says it is a priority to make telecom services
available to prepaid customers without any hindrance and to inform them of the
decisions they are making.
"Telecommunication
services are considered essential services and are therefore not
discontinued," TRAI said in a notification. However, customer service
center and points in cell location have been badly affected due to lockdown. '
It is worth mentioning that 90% of the customers of telecom companies are
prepaid users. Its number is 80 million.
